After being subjected to idiot drivers doing the "Highway 99 Slalom" at close to 99 mph, let me suggest a follow-up to Bee articles on automobile accident rates in this area as compared to other areas.
When we moved to the Sacramento area two years ago, we were totally surprised to see auto insurance rates increase by a substantial amount over what we were paying in the San Francisco Bay Area. When I questioned my agent, she said it was due to the fact that the accident rate in this area was much higher and thus the rates needed to be adjusted to account for the poor driving record of those in our area.
Those who drive carelessly need to see that it affects their wallets. Something must be done to wake up these mindless idiots behind the wheel.
